Experience the thrill of sharing your adventures with Scouting peers during the 52nd Jamboree-on-the-Air (JOTA) and 13th Jamboree-on-the-Internet (JOTI) taking place October 17-18, 2009.
Jamboree-on-the-Air and Jamboree-on-the-Internet are sponsored by the World Organization of the Scout Movement.
Jamboree-on-the-Air is an annual event in which about 500,000 Scouts from all over the world make contacts with each other by means of amateur radio. Short-wave radio signals carry their voices to virtually any corner of the world. It’s the shear excitement of having a live conversation with a fellow Scout at some other place in the world that attracts so many youngsters to this event. JOTA is a real Jamboree during which Scouting experiences are exchanged and ideas are shared. It’s a unique opportunity for each individual Scout to get the real feeling of belonging to a world-wide movement.
Similarly to the JOTA, the Jamboree-On-The-Internet connects Scouts using Internet techniques. The JOTI is held on the same weekend as the Jamboree-On-the-Air. Participants can choose to take part in either one event or both.
JOTA and JOTI are a real testimony to the international dimension of Scouting, where young people not only learn about new technologies, they can understand that there are millions of Scouts all over the world sharing the same vision: creating a better world!
